Purchasing a Gift Subscription of Interpreter

Some readers have asked how they might purchase a gift subscription for a friend or family member of the paperback edition of Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture. There are two ways, depending on if you have a PayPal account, or if you want to pay directly with a credit or debit card.

If you use the PayPal account method, the steps are:

1. Click on the subscribe button on the annual print subscription webpage.
2. Log into PayPal when prompted.
3. Under “shipping information” click the “edit address” link.
4. Click the “Add” button under the list of addresses.
5. Select “Gift Address” option under Recipient, and then enter in gift recipient’s name and their address details. The field where you put the recipient’s name is marked as “Enter a name for your gift address above.” Do not check the box asking if it is also your billing address.
6. Click the “Add” button.
7. Make sure the gift recipient is selected in the list of addresses, and then click “use selected address.”
8. Verify the payment method, and then click “Agree and pay.”

If you don’t use PayPal, and would like to pay directly with a credit or debit card, the steps are:

1. Click on the subscribe button on the annual print subscription webpage.
2. Click on the link where it says to not use PayPal, and use a credit or debit card instead.
3. Enter in all of your information, including your own billing address.
4. Select “no” when it asks if the shipping address is the same as the billing address.
5. Click “continue.”
6. Enter the name and shipping address of the gift recipient when it asks for shipping address.
7. If it changes the name on the shipping address back to yourself, click the edit address link. (PayPal thinks you want to ship to yourself at a different address, but we don’t know why it doesn’t just accept the name as entered in the previous screen.)
8. Click “add.”
9. Select “Gift Address” option under Recipient, and then enter in gift recipient’s name and their address details. The field where you put the recipient’s name is marked as “Enter a name for your gift address above.” Do not check the box asking if it is also your billing address.
10. Make sure the gift recipient is selected in the list of addresses, and then click “use selected address.”
11. Verify the payment method, and then click “Agree and pay.”
