eBook Formats

Interpreter Journal articles and blog posts are available in several different eBook formats. We will explain these various formats that you can download directly by clicking the buttons on the left and right-hand sides of each respective article. These will allow you to download the files to your computer for reading or transfer to other devices.  Note: You can also right-click on the buttons on the right-hand side of each Journal article and choose “Save as…” to save these files to your computer; sometimes left-clicking on them will open them within your browser instead of downloading them. With a PDF you will see the very same typeset version of the text that is available from our print-on-demand service, but you’ll be able to read it electronically.

PDF download buttonThe Adobe PDF is a format that is widely recognized as one for sharing documents, and is popularly used in many scenarios.  To view a PDF you must have a PDF reader installed on your desktop computer. Most smartphones and tablet computers can read PDF files by default just by clicking on them.

For Journal articles, this format is also available as a podcast subscription feed. Using the “PDF” button on the right-hand side of Jornal articles will give you a Journal cover, page breaks and footnote formatting as in the printed Journal.

Local PDF button An additional option for both Journal articles and blog posts, is to open the PDF file format using the “Local PDF” button on the left toolbar and saving the resulting page. This will give you a PDF copy that looks like the article on the site.

ePub download formatThe ePub format is the most popular eBook format available today. Almost every eBook reader device on the market is compatible with the ePub format (except the Kindle, as explained below). By downloading the ePub version of a publication, you are receiving the text in a digital format. You need an ePub reader to view ePub files. As noted, there are many e-book devices, such as the Barnes & Noble NOOK, that can read this format, as well as certain ePub software applications on desktop computers. Note that this format is also available as a podcast subscription feed.

Local ePub button An additional option for both Journal articles and blog posts, is to download an ePub file using the “Local ePub” button on the left toolbar and saving the resulting page.

Mobipocket (.mobi) is a common eBook format. A downloaded publication in this format can be loaded on any Amazon Kindle device, read in any Kindle app, the Mobipocket Reader, as well as on PDAs and smartphones. The method for doing this varies between devices, but generally the device must be plugged in via USB to your computer, and you use the device’s software to browse to the downloaded file and load it onto the device.

Local MOBI button An additional option for both Journal articles and blog posts, is to download a MOBI file using the “Local MOBI” button on the left toolbar and saving the resulting page.

Kindle download formatIf you are an Amazon Kindle owner, another method that is perhaps easier to use is to access them via a Kindle Store eBook. This allows you to download each publication wirelessly to your Kindle. The minimum we are allowed to charge for these eBooks is $0.99 each. You can click on the “Kindle” button on the right-hand side of each article to see the available Kindle eBook for that article, or you can search the Kindle bookstore on their website or directly on your Kindle device for “Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture” to find our publications. You will be able to download these publications wirelessly and directly to your Kindle after purchase.

Yet another method, also explained on the subscriptions page, is via a subscription in the Kindle Store. All of the recent Interpreter Journal articles will be available in the Kindle Store via a subscription ($0.99 per month is the minimum we are allowed to charge). There you can subscribe to Interpreter, and have new content delivered directly to your Kindle wirelessly over Amazon Whispernet the instant it becomes available. Simply search for “Interpreter” in the Kindle Store on your device to find it, or follow this link to subscribe: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RTY3X6

Interpreter publications are also available on NOOK devices as eBooks from Barnes & Noble’s NOOK bookstore. We are unable to provide a subscription service for the NOOK at this time, but each publication is available separately as an eBook (such as David Bokovoy’s inaugural article, or Mark Alan Wright and Brant A. Gardner’s second article). You can click on the “NOOK” button on the right-hand side of each article to see the available NOOK eBook for that publication, or you can search the NOOK bookstore on their website or directly on your NOOK device for “Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture” to find our publications. You will be able to download these publications wirelessly and directly to your NOOK after purchase. Similar to Amazon, the minimal we are allowed to charge for these publications is $0.99 per eBook. If you would like to read our publications on your NOOK for free, you may download the ePub file format, as noted above, and copy it to your NOOK via USB cable.

Apple iBookstore – Each of the volumes of “Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture” will be made available as an e-book in the Apple iBookstore, which is available through iTunes on your device or your computer.  Simply go to the iTunes store on your device or computer, search for “Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture” and then choose the volume number you’d like to download.
