An Interesting listen, especially as a Father of many kids. You all do miss some very obvious things, and perhaps in your glee about your Faith you are blinded by some realities. The youth of all religions are leaving, and it is in droves as you are want to push back against that and try to study against this truth. Your bias shines thru in this discussion and I fear left you biased results, in any book written. All religions experience it, and perhaps LDS retains only slightly better as studies suggest, but our youth ARE leaving and it is perhaps because of few other missed points you actually make, but you’ve missed it. Example?: You talk of Benson?!? You realize the youth are waking up to his many conservative and even far right wing dealings and personality? He and brother Brigham may perhaps be the most damaging of all our prophets, Joseph for sure but we Praise The Man too much to see it fully. You also mention the lack Internet Savvy of our people may have a relation to unawareness of issues? Our youth & people are Highly connected and the more connected and away from fed sources by leadership, the more truths are unveiling, that the LDS organization is woefully behind on explaining in true light. Look, the 4 reasons why any would stay that you are trying to prop up, are EXACTLY why many leave, when they wake up. Pray more?, to Heavenly Father or Mother? Because the essay and discussions is out there, and our savvy youth are reading such and thinking about this beyond your ‘just pray’ #1. Read Scriptures more? Which ones? Joseph Smith and writing are highly suspect and the whole BLM and George Floyd newest events, only highlight our awful scriptural histories and veracity! Attend Church? What church? Blue Hair CoronaVirus survivors only church? I jest But, Youth are scarce and except for lively burgeoning neighborhoods, it is ugly and budget cut, and lacking in solid AWARE teachers/parents that actually KNOW the youth are leaving and know how to teach and minister to their realities. I listened to it all, but I just think you’ve missed the realities out here. Good luck on book sales
I hope John’s book will also be available on AppleBooks. It is my favorite platform.
