D&C 21 was not received “at the home of Peter and Mary Whitmer in Fayette Township.” All early historical documents indicate that it was given (along with 5 other revelations) on April 6, 1830, at the log home of Joseph Smith Sr in Manchester Township. A full discussion of this is available in Michael Marquardt, “An Appraisal of Manchester as Location for the Organization of the Church,” Sunstone, Feb 1992, pp. 49-57, online at https://www.sunstonemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/sbi/articles/087-49-57.pdf ; see also Richard Bushman, Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling (2005), 109 and notes.
